FIS CR: promoting friendship & cross cultural understanding in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Join us!

The Friends of International Students - Cedar Rapids chapter is a non-profit organization that connects international students attending Coe College to people in our community. International students attending Coe College come from Japan, Bangladesh, India, France, and many other countries. While they are here, they would love to experience life in the Midwest as we know it! Get involved and share your experience with our students.

Your commitment includes connecting with your student on a monthly basis during the academic year. This might be getting together for dinner at your house, attending a community event in Cedar Rapids or an event on Coe College campus, or even just a phone call to touch base. Consider including your new international friend in your distinctly American traditions (pumpkin carving, anyone?).

First step? Complete our interest form. We'll contact you to let you know you're on our radar, and we'll match up students & friends.

Next step: in the fall we hold a gathering on campus to introduce all friends and students. After that, you and your student can work out schedules meetings, and dates on your own.
