"We got pinned, we got serenaded..."

And they got married. Bill Rembacz and Bonnie Solheim Rembacz first met at Flunk Day, one of the oldest and most endeared spring traditions at Coe College. On one particular Flunk Day, Bill made a run down in his old Volkswagen to the Maid-Rite for food. He parked in the Voorhees loop, so he could eat breakfast with Bonnie and friends in the basement of Voorhees. When he came back outside, the VW was gone. "We looked around and saw a lot of friends laughing," recalls Rembacz, "That;s when I realized my old Volkswagen was at the top of the library steps with people climbing around in it." The car had been lifted up and carried to the library steps. "It was a great Flunk Day prank.

Where is he now? After a nearly 20-year Air Force career and second career as a systems engineer, Bill and Bonnie are enjoying retirement.

“I wake up in the morning and I can do whatever I want,” Rembacz said. He and his wife have volunteered as scorers for multiple PGA tournaments, were volunteers for the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah, and spend their time traveling to visit their 10 grandchildren, three of which live in Zambia. When not busy traveling or volunteering Rembacz enjoys golfing and hunting.
