Dennis Gay did more than just study at Coe College.

He played football, ran track, was involved in the AFROTC program, served as a Resident Assistant in Greene Hall, worked at Eby Fieldhouse and in the cafeteria, and was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity. Gay was a standout high school athlete and had offers from many other schools.  "When I interviewed at Coe  the coaches knew everybody by their first name, and not just the stars and the starters, they knew everybody. And one of the things that impressed me was they talked education first and athletics second," Gay said. "I think they had pretty high standards. They wanted to see us succeed both on the field and off the field."

Where is he now? After several initial brush-offs, Vicki Stick '73 finally said "yeah, sure" to a date with Gay.  They married and raised five children. Gay spent six years in the Air Force after graduating from Coe. He retired after 36 years with the Exxon Mobile Corporation and currently resides with Vicki in Houston, TX.
